Workarounds
The most convenient workaround is opening the PDF file in whichever viewer you have at hand, zoom in or out at an appropriate level, and take a screenshot.
On Windows, the built-in utility program that helps you take a screenshot is called Snipping Tool. You can search for it from the Start Menu.
On iOS, find the screenshot instructions according to your OS version and phone model here.
On Android, try pressing the Power and Volume Down buttons at the same time to take a screenshot. If that does not work, refer to your device manual for specific instructions. Android devices of different brands and models have their own method.
Every Mac comes with a built-in app called Preview that can open a PDF file and export it to JPG. Chances are it is already a default app for viewing PDF and image files on your computer. To perform the conversion:
- Right-click the PDF file to be converted, and select ‘Open with Preview’.
- Once you are in the Preview app and viewing the file, select ‘File Export…’ from the menu.
- In the dialog box that appears, choose ‘JPEG’ for ‘Format’. For ‘Quality’, a level slightly lower than ‘Best’ is advisable, so that the file takes up less space without noticeable compromise on the clarity. For ‘Resolution’, 200 or 300 pixel/inch is suitable for most purposes.
- Change the file name as appropriate, and make sure the file location is where you want, then hit ‘Save’.
