CA Foundation Course 2022: All you Need to Know

CA Foundation Course, also known as the primary course of the entire CA course, is conducted by ICAI. The entire CA Foundation Syllabus is divided into 4 subjects that test the aspirants on the basics of accounting, business laws, maths, logical reasoning, and economics. 

But before appearing in the exams, all the eligible students have to apply for the CA Foundation Course and fill out the registration form. After registering with ICAI for the CA Foundation, the students can move forward with the preparation.

Now as you know, the CA Foundation exams are conducted twice a year, but students first have to register themselves. The deadline to register for CA Foundation Course was 1st Jan 2022, and after that, you cannot register.

After successfully registering for the CA Foundation, you can start your preparation. ICAI gives the students 4 months study period to study for the CA Foundation syllabus.

Students also have to fill out the CA Foundation exam form when ICAI opens the window and also download the admit card. In the end, to clear the CA Foundation exams, you need to score a minimum of 40% marks on each paper, but your aggregate score of all papers should be 50%.


What is the Eligibility Criteria for the CA Foundation Course?

CA Foundation holds some specific criteria that you must fulfil to become eligible to appear in the CA Foundation Exam. ICAI specified CA Foundation eligibility criteria says:

  • Students should have completed their class 12th board exam from any recognized university.
  • The students can be a 12th board appearing candidate with the proper proof of the same such as class 12th board admit card.
  • The class 10th students can get provisional admission to the CA Foundation course but cannot appear for the exam without passing the class 12 board exam.

Hence, the student must fulfil these criteria before they appear for the CA Foundation Exam.


Steps to Apply for the CA Foundation Registration

Once the candidate has confirmed that they are eligible to appear in the CA Foundation Exam, they can start filling out the registration form. To fill out the form, you need to follow CA Foundation registration process:

  • Open the ICAI portal and login into it. (If you are a new user, enter all your basic details, email id, phone number and verify the OTP.)
  • Now, after completing the login process, go to the Students Cycle, and open the link to the Foundation Registration.
  • Next, add all the basic details and the scanned documents as asked in the ICAI form and at last, save the form.
  • You will now be diverted to the payment gateway. So, fill out the registration fee and save the fee receipt with you.

What are the Subjects in the CA Foundation Course? 

As you know, there are 4 CA Foundation Subjects that students have to prepare for. These four papers cover different areas such as Economics, Business Studies, Business Law, Logical Reasoning, Maths, etc. Let us now see what these four papers of the CA Foundation Exam are:

  • Principles and Practices of Accounting
  • Business Laws and Business Correspondence and Reporting
  • Business Mathematics and Logical Reasoning and Statistics
  • Business Economics and Business and Commercial Knowledge

Filing of the CA Foundation Exam Form

Students must be aware that there are two forms that the students have to fill out to sit in the CA Foundation exams. The first one is the registration form and the second one is the CA Foundation exam form.

Now for May 2022 exams, the Foundation examination form has been released on 21 February and will be open till 13 March without a late fee. But from 13 March to 20 March, if you fill out the form, you need to pay the late fee.

Now to fill out the application form, simply log in with your credentials and tap on “apply for CA Foundation Exam.” Afterwards, enter all the required details for the CA Foundation course and fill out the fee to complete the process.

After filling out the examination form, students are eligible to sit in the CA Foundation Exam. Now, they can download the admit card, which is released 14 days before the exam. Also, after downloading the CAA Foundation admit card, check whether all the information is correct or not.

CA Foundation Exam Dates for May 2022

ICAI generally conducts the exam for the May session from mid-May. But in this session of CA Foundation May 2022, the previously decided CA Foundation exam dates were clashing with the CBSE class 12th board exam dates.

This is why the May Exam has now been postponed to June. The exam for CA Foundation will start on 24th June and will end by 30th June. You can refer to the following table for the CA Foundation date sheet for the May 2022 session.

After the conduction of the CA Foundation paper, the result is declared after 2 on the official ICAI website. Students can simply log in with their Ids and passwords on the ICAI website and tap on the result link to check the results.
