5 Movies Coming to Disney+ in 2022

Disney+, the streaming service owned by Disney that offers a variety of shows and movies from Disney and other networks, frequently updates its offerings. In 2022, viewers will see a long list of new content coming to the streaming service for children and adults.

If you’re looking for movies to add to your watchlist for family movie nights, here are a few of the films that will be released on Disney+ in 2022.

Better Nate Than Ever

Based on the book by Tim Federle, Better Nate Than Ever follows 13-year-old Nate Foster, who has dreams of becoming a Broadway star. After getting an unfavorable role in the school play, Nate and his friend, Libby, concoct a plan to sneak off to New York City to audition for Lilo and Stitch: The Musical. 

Better Nate Than Ever is tentatively scheduled for a fall 2022 release.


Sneakerella is a musical comedy that will be released on February 18, 2022. This musical comedy tells the story of El, an aspiring sneaker designer who falls in love with Kira King, the daughter of a professional basketball player. El struggles with confidence when it comes to achieving his dreams, but his best friend and Fairy Godfather help him find the confidence to pursue his goal of becoming a sneaker designer.

Cheaper by the Dozen

Cheaper by the Dozen is a reboot of the original 2003 film that starred Steve Martin and Bonnie Hunt. The new iteration starring Zach Braff and Gabrielle Union will focus on a multiracial blended family as they navigate the ups and downs of living in a twelve-person household. 

Cheaper by the Dozen will be released in March of 2022.


The upcoming Pixar film, Lightyear, is a spin-off of the original Toy Story franchise that starred Tim Allen as the toy astronaut Buzz Lightyear. Lightyear tells the origin story of Buzz, the fictional human that inspired the Buzz Lightyear toy. 

Lightyear’s current release date is scheduled for June 17, 2022.

Hocus Pocus 2

Hocus Pocus 2 is a sequel to the 1993 film, Hocus Pocus, featuring Bette Midler and Sarah Jessica Parker. This film is set nearly three decades after the original movie. It follows three high-school students as they work to defeat the Sanderson sisters, who have once again returned to Salem.

In addition to the children’s movies listed here, several other films will be coming to Disney+ in 2022. Most are for children and families, but quite a few movies geared toward adults will be available, too.
